I am jealous of your beach - tis freezing here!
We ended up having to pull all the fish in as the water has vanished from the pond. We aren't sure why - we can't see any leaks and it doesn't appear to be a problem with the pump or filter. All three of them are in a 140 litre tub in the garage. It is still a bit cold in there, but at least I can heat it more easily.

Blaaaah, the ich is getting worse. :( Would it be really bad to winter him in a storage bucket inside, or should I buy a pond heater? I don't want him to die. :(

In other news, I have more ratties and a mouse. How are you?

Not really. The biggest thing we have for him is a 5 gallon bucket with no filter, or at best a filter for 15 gallons, and because of his length, he can barely even turn around in it. I think the only thing I can do is get some more salt and keep on treating him, doing water changes etc and generally treating it like a really cold, big tank.

It's good that it's only on his tail and not spreading, right? *is hopeful*

    :( I don't want bad news.

Luckily, it doesn't seem to spreading. It's only on his tail, and the dots are very small and, so far, few in number. The temperature was about 48F at 7:15 this morning (about half an hour after sunrise).

I didn't have as much salt as I thought, but I added what I had (about 20 tsps). I premixed it in 2.5 gallons warm water with Melafix (seemed to help last time) and Seachem Safe, and added it using a ladle over about 25 minutes so that I didn't change the temperature too much. It was also raining at the same time, so there was an influx of cold water. I'll have to see if I can get some more salt, but I'm so broke at the moment due to vet bills! Le sigh. It never rains but it pours, as they say.

For their sake, I can't wait til summer. :p Not too keen on it personally (heat + graduation, blegh), but it will be nice to see them actually enjoying being in the pond. Right now I'm feeling massively guilty for putting him in.
