One of my male guppies has what appears to be a combo of fin-nipping and fin-rot. :P He's in a 10 Gallon with 2 other male guppies, 5 harlequin rasboras and my nerite snail. Is it the same as you'd treat a betta's fin-rot? If so, would the aquarium salt have negative effects on the other fish in the tank? Should I get a hospital tank? I'm going to my LPS soon. I PM'd Sakura but she wasn't on and I have to go soon. :/

:D. Sure wish I'd had goldfish and koi back in the day when it was "Eat all your broccoli or no dessert."

Thanks so much for the advice, I will try a fasting. I'd feel better if they ate the more wheat-based pellet since the temp is still 60F.

Silly koi and goldfish won't eat the fancy koi food I got them because it floats. They don't realize it's there. -__- On the bright side, I found out they love chopped broccoli stems, which is great because I never eat the stem part, haha.

Sorry, my comp is down and it's hard to type long messages on my iPad. Will resume PM when I get my comp back. 5 weeks, :(. Hope to start ordering things for the pond soon. :)

When I get my pond up and running, I should name it in honor of you for all the help you've given me. :) You are such a wealth of great info. :)

Hi Izzy. I spoke with my friend who I intended to give my baby koi to in the spring and now I'm a bit worried. It sounds like her pond may be too small and shallow. It's roughly 10' X 8' and has 9 koi who are each about 1'. I do know that she had more koi but some died last summer because the pond was not deep enough (possibly not enough oxygen and no aeration provided). What is your opinion on this pond? I'd really appreciate your advice.

Hi.. You seem to be very knowledgable and friendly.. So I have a question. If I were to do a 10g sorority, what kind of water changes would I need to do? How many females would I want to put? Do you HAVE to put live plants? How long should you cycle a 10g? If you would be so kind please! :D

Oh, sorry I was unclear. No, I meant that if I needed to rehome him in the pond right away, those would be the outdoor temps that he'd have to adjust to as opposed to the indoor temp he has now, which has been a steady 70 F but will now be lowered significantly.

Thank you so much for all your advice and for sharing your knowledge. Koichiro and I greatly appreciate it. :)
