Yes BGK and Angelfish would be an epic South American 'tope!

And yup, holds water! So pleased! We bought the sand today, going rock hunting tomorrow.

Never knew BGK's were South American. That would be a pretty awesome tank!

Hah, yes we shall need an angel fish/black ghost knife biotope in the house next.
Looks like we're sticking to Africa, at least that's good. The tank's all sealed up so wish me luck with it!

I can imagine with colors like that, they would be expensive. But they are really impressive. To hell with a biotope if you can throw something that beautiful in there! Hope Taz's answer is what you're looking for! I've got my fingers crossed.

I knowwww those are soo gorgeous! I'll ask Tazman about it. Hopefully I could find some here. Angels are pretty popular round here. But those colours are expensive but it's worth it!

I never knew angels could be that beautiful. Discus are my favorite of the SA cichlids, but those things are making me rethink that. I'm astounded. And I also see why you want to break the biotope.

I'd ask about the buffalo head and congo tetra. Getting rid of the ctenopoma sounds like a good idea if you go with the angels. The only things I've heard about them is that they are aggressive.

Yea, I've seen Heiko Bleher (most famous biotope guy in the world) put sword tails in his African tanks.

Nerrr... I wanna try it. BUT the buffalo heads are cichlids. Problem? Can't get rid of the buffalos. And the ctenopoma is an anabantid. But I'm kind of okay about getting rid of the ctenopoma since it may be my biggest problem. But maybe I should bother.
I think angels and congos would both fit, maybe.....

Oh okay. Good to know. Heck, none of my fish have ever had live foods. Except that one time I saw a koi eat a mosquitofish whole. Both were going after the same piece of food. Guess who won.
