Bombalurina

My albimarginata (basically the same behaviour/care wise as channoides) spawned while sharing a tank with pseudomugil mellis and clown killifish. They are pretty peaceful fish. Of course now I've said that you'll probably get some pyscho pair haha

I just had some pieces of wood in my aquarium that formed sort of natural caves and hollows, and the albimarginata and channoides used to spawn/hang around that.

Don't worry about bothering me. I like talking about wild bettas so don't mind.

Yeah the market for wild bettas here is not very strong. I worry because I have a lot of fry growing out but only want them to go to experienced homes as coccina complex is not for everyone.

Channoides are pretty outgoing and docile. At least my pairs were. Gold vine will sink eventually. I like goldvine but usually it goes all slimy and smells foul for a while after being submersed. Been saving my pennies up to get one big piece to cut up and put in some of my tanks heh heh.

I love killies. Once I get a job and most importantly some money (am so skint!) I want to get back into keeping killies. I love the chromaphyosemion and aphyosemion genus or whatever they are. They along with wild bettas are my favourite fish. Just never had much luck with the darn things!

Also, your channoides may like a cave. I have found my mouthbrooders like to spawn in pots/PVC pipe tunnels etc.

Yeah, most wild bettas excluding macrostoma don't have a very high re-sale value. Plus wholesalers sell some of the wilds really cheaply. I got a rutilans male for $15 at an aquarium. I am probably going to be selling my burdigala males at around $10-15 per fish as there just isn't a massive market for them.

Male heavy spawns are a problem with this complex. I am trying to work out how to get my spawns more balanced so I can sell some pairs rather than just single males.

This is unless I missed the point and you were saying that $40 was expensive haha.

My profile pic is of my girl Silhouette. She was very unique! Very mischievous and crafty. She escaped constantly. It would take hours to lure her out of her hiding place. Silly lady. :)

Hurrah, another veggie! I love being vegan, I feel like I was born to be one. My advice is to go at your own pace when you make the switch from vegetarian to vegan. Some go overnight, some take months or even years. It took me about a month personally. Of course I mess up here and there, but that's to be expected. We can't be perfect. :)

Yes. You should certainly stop feeding them. I know it's a strange feeling at first not to feed your fish, but you get used to it. If the fish do get hungry they will munch on the algae. Goldfish are very adept at finding food on their own if they get hungry.

Well... I needed one cup to raise my 55 gal about 2 dGH... extrapolate that out to the gallonage of your pond. Just aim for a dGH of over 6. While it will still be on the soft side, it will be much better for them and the plants.
