Can you tell me what you did to keep your gourami alive for ten years?

That's sadness! He was sooooo CUTE! I'd have to imagine that they've gotta be not-so-tough, though. All blondness considered... When do you hear back!? That's EXCITING! *crosses fingers* that you get in! All's good here, trying to figure out what to do with Sunny the hunchback Platy.

hi olympia I am a new member and also fairly new at raising betas. I have read printed and download lots of information and learned a lot. I have my first successful Spawn the eggs should be hatching late tonight, but the ammonia levels are rising between .25 and.50 . I did a 50 percent water change 1 day before they spawned my question is how can I do a water change without disrupting the eggs

Sorry lol, just one more question... Do you know if loaches or plecos can carry diseases that could affect my bettas? I can't see anything physically wrong with them, although I don't see them often and I'm unsure what normal behavior is for them, but they've lived for a good five years in a tank that every other fish quickly died from (water quality issues from never getting water changes, no doubt).

I want to seed my fishless cycle with something from his tank but I'm afraid of contaminating my tank somehow. He obviously has a strong cycle going, though, and my tank has been fishless cycling for like two months -_-

I am concerned about his heater because the temperature is only 72 degrees. I don't know if the heater works at all anymore. He said it used to keep his tank at 75. I did convince him to get sand substrate sometime but I was wondering if the loaches would do better if there were more of them. I don't think he knows any more about his fish than I do and he's had them 5 years -_-

One other thing - what should he feed them? He feeds them Wardley flakes but he doesn't feed them more often than twice a week so I drop a couple NLS pellets in there sometimes. I don't know if they should eat either, but I figured that NLS would be more nutritious than Wardley flakes. I also have some VitaChem for my bettas but I don't know if that would benefit his fish or not.
