We have 2 aquarium club here in Oklahoma-both have forums that are free-but to join the clubs you do have to pay a fee and that isn't much.
Gerald Griffin is head of the Betta club here in OK and a big part of the IBC-as well as his wife Kyla...He is more into the wilds and she is into the domesticated long fins.
I can't post links here...but google okla aquarium club-you should have 2 that pop up. It is 2 now due to them splitting up and when all the drama started I ended my membership-but still a lot of great people in the club-especially if you want plants-go to the for sale trade section and post or look around. You can even go to a meeting and get stuff really cheap to free in some cases.
How far are you from OKC?
