- No worries ab not responding quickly! (I ended up starting a thread yesterday too, just in case) so, yea, I have some heat wrap things for a 'just in case' (either for me, or for my boys) so, I decided I would play it by ear, and just check in on them every so often, I have some thermometers for my orchids, with a "probe" on a long cord, so I will put the probe in the cooler, and put the screen (? Not sure what to call that part lol.. It shows the temp & humidity of the air) over by the steering wheel so I can glance at that often! :) (it's an 8 hour trip, so I'm not wanting to stop more than I have to, but I will, when needed) Thanks!
- Thank You so much! I had checked the sloshing, it is water-tight as long as it doesn't sit upside down...so it's good there... I will drill a couple holes in the tops of the containers, thanks for the advice! :) I had a weird thought... I have no idea where to get those heat packs (for shipping, or glove warmers) this time of year (in NC) so I thought about those "Therma-Care" heat wraps, u use them for sprains & strains, like a mobile heating pad, they are worn stuck to your body, directly to ur skin, so not too hot (I guess like glove warmers?) but obviously I would wrap them in newspaper if I used them for my boys, & not touching their containers... Do u think that would work instead of the heat packs? These "wraps" last for 8 hours, so it's good timing (I've worn them b4 - helpful for us ladies - and they r warm for the full 8 hrs, so it would take maybe 9 or so hrs to get cool) Thank You again for taking the time to help me! :)
- Hey! I was just reading ur "emergencies and your betta" thread, and had a couple of questions... Would start a thread, but I'm not sure it would get answered in time... I'm going out of town for the whole summer, & am taking my 2 bettas, I have two 1gal Hefty brand plastic containers (water-tight, yet not ~quite~ water-proof, won't leak if kept upright) & the temps here for tomorrow (travel day) r highs of 68* lows of 52* ... Where I'm headed, (beach) it will be high of 68*, lows: 63* prob. warmer, it's an 8 hour drive, and I have a cooler to keep them in, should I have a heat pack in the cooler? And how long will their air last -if I leave about 1.5" to 2" in. of airspace? (container size is 9"L x 6.5"W x 6"H) *Thank You* so so very much! I hate to dump this on you, but this is the 1st time traveling w/ my fishies, I leave wens/thurs, and I didn't think of everything! :/
