Oh yes! Of course it is! In my 10 gallon community tank I have multiple live plants and have 2 fake ones as well. It is a much cheaper option.
Personally, I enjoy putting live plants in the "direct view" areas. The front of the tank, where your eyes are directed, etc. Then fill the "extra" with realistic silk plants and no one will even notice. My 10 gallon looks amazing and you can tell they are fake (they're plastic) but it really is beautifully put together.
Another good idea is to mix the fake subtley into the real. I know people have clusters of plants and through them in together in a tasteful way so they all look real.
For your plants, I think you should just find a tasteful way to incorporate them. If you did dark gravel with a dark background and put those plants up front, you could line the back end of the tank with plants that will make the tank "pop".
Anytime! That's why you're here on this forum, to get answers!
It is rare for a thread to never receive any sort of reply, sometimes it just takes awhile for someone to stumble upon it and answer, like I did!
Feel free to ask questions anytime. I know a lot about plants, too, if you ever think about going to live plants. If you want to ever PM me or leave a visitor message I will always give you a reply! I mean it, any question, any time, I won't get annoyed! ;)
Anytime! The whole reason you're on this forum is to get information, not make posts that are left unanswered!
It rarely happens threads never get replied to, someone will come along eventually and realize they have just the answer you're looking for. Sometimes it just takes some time for someone to stumble upon it, just like I did.
I'm sorry, I really don't know because I've never tried to put a pic in my signature before. I've always downloaded pics posted on the forum or my avatar from my computer. I've never used photobucket or flickr.
