    Not sure I understand you. Music was never a hobby. When I couldn't find enough work to survive, I turned to a more reliable profession... also not a hobby.

    I agree with that! But I would never make a hobby a job. Takes the fun out of it.

    Didn't give it up. Just preferred eating regularly. Mechanical engineering was boring. But there's something to be said for low-stress jobs.

    Nice! I'm a guitarist myself, been playing 8 years or so. Why did you give it up?

    Currently unemployed unfortunately, but wish I was! Long term goal is to have a small studio of my own. I have a Diploma in Sound Engineering and a trade certificate as a Fitter/Machinist as well. How about yourself mate?

    I used to play sax, clarinet, flute, bassoon. Also spent 10 years as a radio announcer/DJ. And did stage sound/setup for a few musical groups.

    Are you employed as a sound engineer? What's your background?
