Thanks. I'm guessing Collin is at least 12+ months old. He's always been small, so hard to tell. He wasn't in the best shape when I got him. Never any problems with SBD. I'm thinking it might be age related too. Poor Ry. He always checks on Bentley first & then Collin. Bentley lives here with me-there's no way I'm sending him back to my sister's house.

Good luck with the kitchen reno! Not fun to live through, but usually a good payoff in the end. We were able to add a kitchenette area in the apartment downstairs where I live so I don't have to share. My mom would really know something was up if she saw how much water I go through for the fish. She still thinks I only have 5 (when I actually have 17). Do you prepare your water in gallon jugs like me? I could never fit one under the bathroom sink. Maybe use small cups to pour in? It would take forever, but might work for a short period of time. What happened with the community tank?

That would be my problem too. I wouldn't want to make them suffer more. This morning I noticed one of my older guys, Collin, was beginning to show signs of SBD. I have no idea how or why. His water & tank are impeccable. He only eats no more than 3 pellets once a day and has been by himself since I got him months ago. My oldest nephew is almost as attached to him as he is to his own, Bentley. He would be devastated if anything happened to Collin. He's been in the hospital/nursery moved into a quarantine tank in the ES bath. His belly is definitely bloated and he's going horizontal. Not good. Hopefully he pulls through & I don't have a very upset 7 year old on my hands.

Hope your weekend is off to a good start! I had a boring day. Painted ceramics (which was fun), grocery shopping & cleaned tanks. Tomorrow Zumba & then tomorrow night drinks with friends trying to pick birthday places-yay :)

Interesting and good to know. I wonder what my vet would think? Or if he's encountered that before? Watching G have his seizures while they were trying to give him the drugs to bring down the seizures was bad. He didn't stop until after they had injected the second drug to stop his heart.

I wondered about the vodka and clove oil thing. While decapitation is tough, I think it would be so much harder knowing they are suffering for longer. I'd still wind up having to go to the vet. Couldn't do it myself.

LOL! My "alarm clock" aka Jack, is going off now! Crying at the top of the steps! How dare I leave him to go to the store today, out for dinner & to Ballet! I'm a bad mom who won't feed him right now. At least in his opinion ;) I'll take the crying and the constant bugging me for food as long as he's doing better. I'm so happy to have my boy back that I'm not minding (too much) that he wakes me up in the middle of the night thinking he's going to get fed.

Gotta love those needy kitties :) Mine bites me when he wants something. And last night he attacked my phone. Try typing on a BlackBerry with a 28.5 cat on your chest trying to eat the phone. They are such characters!

I've always wondered about vets & fish. Mine is so used to Jack, he was surprised to hear about the bettas. I wonder if the fees are the same?

Jack is MUCH better :) He's back to being my happy (yet crazy attention seeking) boy. Eating & peeing good. He purrs and begs for food all the time. Thanks for asking about him :)

I rescued 2 little girls today with bad cases of fin rot. Just when I'm done with Mags and all her water changes, I bring home these girls. One looks like how I thought Siobhan (now Sean since "she" is most definitely a "he") would have looked. So they're named Bridget & Siobhan. 17 & counting! Kind of like that TLC show!

Off to change clothes for ballet & do the next set of feedings. I'll be back on later tonight.

    Take care!

Yes, she has a lot of similar views as I do (and probably you too) on animal cruelty. I didn't get home until later last night with dance and then Jack needed my attention, so there was a lot of PMing going via my BlackBerry. I agree, I think a lot of people took the video the wrong way. That was the first time I had seen things that mean on the forums (but I've only been here about a month) and I had only talked with nice people.

I'm not sure what I'll do when I run out of friends! With my crazy schedule, it doesn't leave much time for socializing outside of my little circles. It'll be hard to give them up though.

I love all of what Pitbulls and Parolees is about. One day when Jack has passed and I have a good home for a dog, I want a rescue pitbull. I've worked with them before so the experience is there. Tia is amazing and a huge role model for me. Same with Paul Watson (Sea Shepherd). AP does another show, Whale Wars that's also about fighting for animal rights.
