I think Jewel might have external parasites. Sometimes she will rub up against the filter, she isn't interested (not like she last week) in food or bloodworm. She rests more often. Her colouring is the same as it always has been, she hasn't lost weight. I am reluctant to just go ahead and treat her, even with aq salt for fear that I'm treating her for the wrong thing. First, I am going to test her tank water. I use test strips. I know liquid test kits are more accurate, but I don't think I could afford one. There is only one petstore in my area, but since they don't sell fish, they only have a limited selection of fish products. The aquarium stores I deal with are 2 busses away.

Sakura i have a question. I don't cycle my tanks so i am not sure how often you need to change the cartridge in the filter for 5.5 gall tank? Or should people just rinse the cartridge?

I certainly won't start a sorority, not after the incident. I'll just keep the tank as it is right now. I'll buy a male once Piper dies in a few years.

It's been a while hasn't it..? I'm sorry for not updating on anymore threads about my sorority. Winnie died, she was my favorite. But she's in a better place now, with the others; you know? :'D I just wanted to let you know that Piper *did* survive and the tank is as good as new now. Thank you so much for your help! Sorry for thanking you so many times, must be really annoying. lol

King Dedede keeps tipping and can't get to the surface. I also noticed that one side of his body is slightly bigger where the swim bladder is (I looked up an anatomy) and he can barely get to the surface.

How does someone treat a swim bladder problem with a betta? (curious)

Hi Sakura. While I was talking to Jewel this morning, I noticed that one of her cheeks is a fair bit larger than 5he other. I have never noticed this before. I am trying to get a picture of both her cheeks at the same time so I can post it, but Jewel just won't cooperate. I looked at the beta diseases section, but didn't find anything in there. I hope she's okay.
