    Sakura,

No today, well technically yesterday now, and Saturday were busy days. Okay...they're pretty much all that way & this is my break from school. I chased the kids around after work (Santa had stopped by before Christmas to get their lists and give a small gift-little tradition in my neighborhood). Took care of the bettas and then went to train. I have to decide soon whether or not I'm competing this season & if I am how many programs and in what discipline (I skate freestyle and ice dance). Tomorrow will be easier, normal stuff around the house, errands, wrapping and my advanced jazz/tap class (it's longer since we perform).

I really wish I could have competed in riding. You're right-jumping is super fun :) Finances and horses were my biggest problem. Still is, or I would be riding too. Congratulations on getting as far as you did! I'll let you know when I start volunteering with the rescue.

How are the babies doing? You have one of the best success rates with the little guys so far, you know that? You must have the magic touch. I'm glad you're able to rescue them, the poor things.

I have 14 bettas and let's see . . . 5 are ones I definitely got specifically because they were sick or had some problem. Sadly, a lot of my rescues have passed away from problems lingering from their pet store experiences. They had pretty serious issues though and for a few, I'm surprised they lived for a few months because I expected them to pass the night I got them. Stupid pet store and their bad care.

    Hi Jenn!

Just today was a busy day? ;) I'm totally jealous of all the activities you do. Long ago I wanted to figure skate but being in central CA, ice rinks are kind of rare except in winter.

I competed in one show, placed fourth in one class and got disqualified in the other for cantering on the wrong lead (oops). I was supposed to go on but I got pneumonia that summer and then finances went down the drain so I ended up stopping. I wish I'd gotten to show jump just once, though. That's my other passion is jumping.

That is so neat you have a TB rescue! There's a horse sanctuary about 45 mins away but it's just any horse, not racehorses. Where I am, racing isn't a big thing and if there are racers, they're trotters.

    2 of 2

    Sakura,

    Here's part 2

I went to return Grey last night and most of the baby bettas had died but they had 2 that were still alive. I couldn't leave them, so now I have 2 more. If they all survive, I'm going to need more space to put them! How many do you have and are they all rescues too? Any name suggestions? I'm out. They're nearly identical (for now) male and female VT. I've just been calling them the twins. I use all people names for my pets and the only ones I can think of are Kalani & Kanani, but I already have a Karlton & a Collin. Kalani & Kanani are from Pitbulls and Parolees. I love that show! More rescues!

    Later!

    Jenn

    Hi Sakura!

It's been a very busy 2 days for me. I am exhausted today after babysitting last night and working today. Thanks so much for the nice comments!

I wish I still rode. It's been awhile. I never got to compete, but that would have been awesome. Did you? I love horses but they are just so gosh darn expensive! They have a TB race horse rescue about 30 minutes from me and I'd like to volunteer. That way even if I can't have my own, I can still help.

No internet last night except on the BlackBerry, so sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner. I missed chatting on the forums. This is going to make me cut the message in half, so you're getting 2.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

    Later!

    Jenn (gossipgirl)

You are incredible! I wish I had even a quarter of your energy. Really awesome all the things you do. :D

I used to ride, long ago when I was still in school. But once you reach competitive level, it really helps if you can own or lease a horse because of all the time you spend training and at the time, I couldn't afford to so I gave it up. Someday I really want to get back into at least caring for horses, anything where I can be around them. They're such amazing, intelligent and elegant creatures.

Yes, I am a super busy type A personality person. I take 16 credit hours a semester for a major in Nursing with a minor in Psych; I'm studying to either be an NP or a PA. I dance 4 days a week; one night for with my advanced team for jazz & tap (we perform), I take a ballet technique class & Zumba 2 days a week. I started dance almost 4 years ago and had to take 18 months off due to a severe ankle injury from off ice training. And yes, I do figure skate. I started in 2006 at 24 years old and quickly went from wanting to just be able to do spirals and back cross overs to performing in shows and competing. I hold 5 titles currently and perform in shows. This was my 6th year in Nutcracker On Ice. And of course find time to rescue animals (mainly bettas), but my cat is a rescue too. So was his "brother", but he had to be put down last summer. The animals must sense that I have "sucker" tattooed on my forehead! What about you? I know you're into horse racing, do you ride?

Wow, you sound like a busy person! You mentioned you did ballet but do you ice skate as well? (the Nutcracker on Ice thing makes me ask).
