Even fake plants work. Or adding driftwood or fake caves. Even flowerpots. :( What a bummer that the poor fish have to live like that. At the very worst, maybe you can get 2 more barbs and sneak them in. *shrugs* Maybe if you phrase it like this: "if you get more cherry barbs, maybe they'll breed" she might do it. And even if they did breed, I doubt any fry would survive so that wouldn't be an issue.
My pH is 7.8. My water is what thekoimaiden called moderately hard, with a GH of 11 and a KH of 8. However, my rummynoses have been in water that has been through a water softener so their water is actually GH 3 and KH 8. pH is still 7.8. My water is crazy.
I can try, I might need to get plants from Petsmart like anacharis. It is annoying because I take care of the tank, but she gets to make all the decisions? She would never change the water until there was tons of algae. It really does annoy me too.
That's fine, whenever you can get me it, what is your pH BTW? I know you have soft water, but I am not aware of your hardness.
I'm not sure what route you would take from Elk Grove so yeah, I could always pay you gas money if we don't find that out...
So my sisters cherry barbs, two males, one has been chasing the other in a 5 gallon tank nonstop. His fins are nipped and everything. I can't do anything because they are "fine" or "they have been kept together for a couple years". She then said they are surviving so its fine. So I said that her son is surviving (he was crying) so she got mad. Is there anything you think I can do without altering the stocking?
Thats fine, as it is still hell of a deal! I will order a heater that is suitablle for 10 gallons, maybe an Ehiem or another Aqueon Pro series. I will have to clean my 10 gallon filter and just put that on the tank when I get it.
No heater. I'm running out of heaters. Thank goodness it's 101 F here. Actually, it may have to be three weeks and maybe we could meet halfway? My dad was like, "It's 40 miles out of the way to Fremont on the way to San Francisco!" This from someone who just finished driving to San Francisco two days in a row last week.
Uhm, I dunno, maybe $10 for the whole deal? Just want to get rid of the fish and know that they'll go to a good home. The kuhlis, cories, and gouramis will have to go to the LFS then.
Wait so I am getting rummynoses and a 10 gallon? How much do you want lol. I am afraid I wouldn't be able to take any other fish though, my mom wouldnt be very pleased, especially knowing I will have a spare tank, that will be used as a "quarantine" lol. I need to ask my friend to bring over the loft bed so I can get it setup and everything.
Does the 10 gallon have a heater? If not I will order one and it will be here in like 2 days.
Kfry, the rummynoses are all yours. I think I might be able to drop them off on my way to SF in two weeks time (going to SF for War Horse at the Curran). I'll drop off a 10gal too. You wouldn't happen to want 5 kuhli loaches, 3 cory cats, and 3 dwarf honey gouramis too, would you?
Due to increasing printing and postal costs, the October 2012 issue will be the final issue of Aquarium Fish International published. Thank you for supporting Aquarium Fish International for the past twenty-four years.
It goes on to say the balance of my subscription has been trasnferred to Dog Fancy. I don't even have a dog. o.O So no wonder you couldn't subscribe to it. This is a major bummer.
