Very true. Your Petsmart is definitely lucky they got all the hiring problems sorted out before you got a different job. :)

How sad, even if you started out without fish it's hard not to eventually end up with some after seeing so many. It's also extremely hard to not having personal experience, people like when you know more then the tags and relate your own experiences with a particular fish.

The nice thing about paradisefish is they can thrive in unheated tanks. They're comfortable down to the upper 60's. If only bettas were too, then I wouldn't have spent a small fortune on heaters.

If only my Petsmart would actually hire knowledgeable people. The ones who work in the fish section don't even keep fish.

There is very little difference between the two, other then being very zippy he's almost identical. He even flares out his fins and sometimes his gill covers if I hold a mirror up to him. It's cool because he'll get super dark and very pretty. The main difference I found is aggression. I think the betta is more aggressive but because of the paradise's strength and speed he appears more aggressive and can do more damage.

your right it should, because we can't sell her she'll eventually be adopted out so we can pick a good home :)

That makes me feel special, It's sad how little some people know O.O and that sucks about the koi, I wonder if it says 100g for tank size. Petsmarts tank estimates suck. 10g for a molly, a 75g for a Iridescent Shark, I wouldn't be surprised if it said 100g for a koi.

Castiel looks so happy! Is there much difference in the behavior of a paradise fish and a betta fish?

That molly should have a plush home for life since it is saving the lives of other mollies. You are definitely right. Seeing a 3 inch fish is way different than trying to picture it.

Sigh. I wish my Petsmart had an employee like you. When I bought my koi, one employee said I could fit 9 koi into my 300gal pond. My nitrates get up to 80 with just 3 fish in there. o.O

I wish they didn't too. Fish that large belong in public aquariums rather then home aquariums :( On a good note we had a molly left at the store who's huge and I got 3 people to not buy mollys for a 10g by bringing it out. seeing a 3 inch and imagining a 3 inch fish are very different.

I moved my paradise fish Castiel into the divided 10g and he's so happy to have more room, he even made a big bubble nest, it goes along all the glass edges and is extra big under the mesh that fell into the tank O.O

O.O That is so sad. I wish Petsmart wouldn't even sell the catfish; they're better known under their common name Iridescent Shark, which is classified as a tankbuster. Those buggers can get 3 feet long and they're crazy hyper. I'm glad your store did the responsible thing and warned the people. I had that happen to me once when I tried to buy 6 neon tetras at once. The lady said I'd overload my tank and I didn't know what I was doing. She also threatened to void the warranty. I got mad too but I did also tell her I appreciated her looking out for the fish's interests.

Your welcome, I love that I can help :)

You won't believe what happened at work today! First some sugar gliders came in with their owners which was awesome, but right after this couple bought 2 Pangasius Catfish fish and one 4" tinfoil barb for a 30G. Before I took out the fish I asked them how big their tank was, and after finding out it was a 30g they tell me the fish don't grow too big and only live a few years anyway D: My coworker told them we would void the warranty on the fish as it isn't a susceptible home and that's why they die young and the people got mad so we had to call over the manager who told them we had to void the warranty on the fish. Sadly they still decided to get the fish :(

Thank you soooo much! I knew you'd have great advice. :) I'll be looking into those right away. It just doesn't do to have so many fish and cats and not have a camera. XD
