3 inches! Is she a giant plakat?

I'm glad the walmart near me does try to sell bettas too, they already kill enough of the community fish... What were you feeding them before you switched them? She's definitely one lucky betta!

Hmm, sorry to hear that. If it is indeed fin rot (I've never heard of it on the beard though but maybe), your best weapon is to put him in QT and do 100% daily water changes. Make sure the temp is around 80F. He just needs clean water and salt. I think the medicine is too harsh. It didn't do much for Harley but he's slowly getting a bit better with 100% daily water changes (don't forget the conditioner). Good luck!

Black gunk? Well it's a good thing you didn't get any then!

Ah, I see, I bet she'll be more responsive once she's settled in a bit more. And if you only got her a week ago then she probably is pretty young still. I inspected the bettas at Petsmart today (like always...), some of the girls are really tiny. They couldn't be more than 2 months old.

Marimo balls are cute. I had some at one point and discovered that pieces can break off and spread like a carpet over EVERYTHING (gravel, decor, the glass, other plants). I think it was because it was an extremely plant friendly set up as it hasn't happened since, but it was really interesting. My fry loved it even though it made the tank look disgusting. I haven't heard of anyone else having that problem though (usually marimo balls stay ball-shaped lol).

It gives Aki something to pass the time doing at least. They are just so cute when they try to court one another. I've been surprised that all the females I just bought are really interested in the males, the instant they see one they bar right up. They must be the perfect age (4 months?). When did you get Maka?

She's eating plants? That's a bit strange! Maybe you should try an anubia or some other broad leafed plant? Those might be harder for her to eat or tear up... Ya, I feel sort of cruel since my guys and girls are all so love struck but they have to wait a few more weeks... poor things, they're trying so hard to win each other over!

Awesome! I'm sure they'll love some plants. It's so great to see such dedicated people!
