What size tank is she in? I usually don't take them out unless they are in a divided tank or a smaller tank. Have you offered any frozen foods?

That's always nice. I love watching the boys after a water change. They are always so much more active, it's wonderful :)

haha I have a knife dedicated to cutting up stuff for the fish/lizards. It's one of those brightly colored ceramic knives so my parents won't accidentally use it lol Sometimes Walmart or Target will have a sale on knives (under $5). That seems to work pretty well. The parents don't care as long as their knives don't touch fishy food :P

Female bettas are usually not more than 2 inches long when they are fully mature. Males can be 4" from nose to the longest point on their caudal fin. "Giant bettas" are giant because they are they only bettas who's bodies are over 2.5 inches. If she's still pretty small then she's likely around 1"-1.5", they always seem bigger though :D

I don't know why they make betta pellets so big, it really doesn't make any sense since most of the time you get them when they are tiny! I really love Attison's betta pellets since they are so tiny, even 1-2 month old fry can eat them. Have you tried given them frozen foods? Mine just love frozen blood worms.
