Yeah. I was really worried about him but after the water was changed he perked back up and is back to his old self. He's already coloring back up his orange wash is coming back and his rays should have their violet tinge back in no time. ^^ He's a little nut sometimes.

Oh, so high alkalinity is bad.
I remember reading that post now, and I tried to research it, but I never could find clear answers on whether it was bad or not. Now we know.
So glad he's doing better, though, really! He should color back up pretty fast.

I think so. The ammonia and nitrates was fine but the water had a high alkenlinity level so as soon as my mom came home from work we did a 75% waterchange on the tank and after that he hung around the heater most of the night and now he's back to his old self. Flaring, managed to get himself untangled..Everything with him is back to normal. He still has the pale scale on him but the rest of him is coloring up more his head even has a bit of orange in the black. I think he's just coloring up more.

Wow. So it was something with the water, I guess?

Welcome. I'm just relieved that the waterchange did the trick. He's even built a huge bubble nest.
