The schedule I usually do for water changes is a half a gallon every week or so and then a full change every two months. I use water conditioner when changing any amount of water. The water temp is 80 degrees F, filtered 2.5 gallon tank. He is the only fish in the tank with nothing else. He has had no problem since the day I got him. I did not do any treatment. I was considering doing the epsom salt bath but the age of my fish and the stress he was in made me avoid doing so. I am not sure how old he was because my sister had him at first for about a month. She did not take care of it very well and I ended up doing it. The first year of his life he lived in an un-filtered 0.5-1.0 gallon bowl and thrived. I moved him to the 2.5 around six months ago. hope this helps and if you can give me anything to do for him!
