For those who remember me, I've been gone an incredible amount of time. Jesus, 3 years to the looks of it. About 2 years ago I went out of town, not long, but apparently long enough. Something happened. They all died. Every last betta(and I was keeping a 55 gallon sorority along with like 6 split 10 gallons). No idea what happened. So... I stepped away for a while, then life exploded. Now I'm moving and getting out from under all that life and hopefully will be able to keep bettas again! Yay!

I think you would actually approve of the overhaul my Petco is doing right now. They now have a Fish Specialist who knows what she is doing and is a big betta fan. She keeps things working fairly well.

Bettas are still in their cups... but she seems to be at least constantly changing out their water.

With every death due to the negligence of Petco, I only become more determined. I will see the day when people only go there for random supplies and no one buys their fish stock. I WILL see it happen!

Yay me! I've managed to successfully spot the egg spots on all my girls. No more wondering! Tinker's fins are growing out very well, he's so cute when he flares up. Hekatoncheires is one happy, healthy, playful betta boy. I was using a small flower vase as a decoration and he seems to love it... But decided against it after he swam into it and didn't seem to know how to leave, lol. Considering changes Hyperion's name to ghost. Little dude is SO SHY.

I'm still 50/50 on whether the rescued betta will survive. He keeps floating lopsided... Poor little guy. Not ever completely on his side though. He's somewhat active and is eating somewhat well, his fins are still in very poor shape. His color has picked up some though. He's a gold body with bright red and blue fins, veiltail. I hope he lives... He's terribly beautiful.

^_^ Now I have yet another fishy on my hands... I went to Petsmart today to get some freeze dried brine shrimp and some other bits and took a look at the Bettas... It was like a scene from a horror movie! O.O All of them had horrible filthy water, a good 1/3 to 1/2 of them had such horrible fungus infections that they looked like puff balls with fins, almost all of them had tail rot, 1/4 of them were dead. One. Just one. Was rescueable. I couldn't help myself. I took him. Haven't determined a name for him yet, waiting to see his colors. He has fin rot pretty badly, but not enough that it's completely ruined his fins. He stared at me so hard... My self control vs. Bettas is pathetic, lol

Well My betta reacted just fine. I had to continue the treatment as directed so her immune system wasn't compramised so if you do add fin rot medication Make sure you do the full treatment. Do you have a pic of your betta fish's tail? He could be tail biting which I actually had one of my bettas do. I'm sure if you post a thread about it (If you haven't allready) Someone will be able to infer if it's fin rot or not :)
