3 years old is about the max age for a betta. Older than that is considered pretty remarkable.

:/ It's really too bad you can't get some garlic. That's all I can suggest, Bettalover. And even then, I'm worried that Sparky's age is catching up to him. He's an old guy, you've given him a good 2 yrs and when you consider that a lot of bettas are at least a year old before you even buy them, he's an old guy. Do your best to get some garlic or set out that bucket for mosquito larva.
