I've bred bettas who were about 2 years old, though no eggs were produced.
In my spawning tank I have a cave and TONS of live plants surrounding the cave. - Would like to breed, but the female didn't allow the male to embrace her last weekend. He did do a number on her tail fins thoughwhile he was trying to get her out of her hiding place. Since then, I've gotten pretty attached to her. I was thinking of allowing her tail to heal up as much as possible & if I see any eggs in her sac,put her back w/ the male w/ a better shelter. I estimated that my male is ~7mo & my female ~5.5mo. so I have a little time, but I'm cutting it close before my male gets too old. What do you think?
