- just saw your post , i am so sad sorry for you loss. I got a little confused is it the one that was lost in the mail right? You know i know someone who has the same issue with ammonia , not sure what is ammonia reading though. She does 2-50% and 100% water changes a week. Because how i understand Prime change ammonia to amonium that is less dangerous for 24-48 hrs. So the more water you do the better it is. So may be try do not cycle the tank for your next betta. If you want i can ask that girl if you can write and speak to her . She is member of this forum. I think her tank about 3 gall.
Are you getting another betta? The betta that died is the only one that you have i think? Don't get discourage. But try not cycled tank.
- Thanks so much! Yes I will be careful! I should run out and get a second net I guess! I didn't even think of that! I did not quarantine my plants for more than a week....I did wash them off so hopefully everything is ok. I will keep a close eye on everyone!
I have been doing LOTS of water changes...probably about 25% almost every day to keep the ammonia down. I think I over fed the first night or two since he was stressed and didn't eat it. The other levels seem good so far. Nitrates are showing up and growing slowly. Nitrites have been at 0 the past few days. Just that darn Ammonia! I did about a 50% change today so hoping that gets it more in check. I have been testing everyday with my master API kit. I really hope I am doing everything right!
- Hey i am glad you got your betta finally. Do you have any questions on the water changes, tank care? Also every time you got new betta make sure you quarantine one or at least do not share anything between them in case one is sick. Sometimes symptoms may show later on, and it better be safe than sorry. Even live plants should be quarantined.
