- Oh good! I wasn't expecting that you would watch my thread (the advice you gave already was helpful), I had just read over my response and thought it might have come off as rude. I do really appreciate the help. :)
- Hey I just wanted to apologize if my response to your thoughts on Link's fins came off as rude at all. I have been pretty adamant for a while that the filter couldn't possibly be the problem, but I am most likely going to move him into a new tank without one to see if that helps. I suppose it was more of me wanting him to stay in his nice big tank than really thinking about all the possibilities. So again, I'm sorry if I seemed rude, and thank you for the extra nudge I needed to look at a different solution. :)

- 02-23-2013 07:18 PM - permalinkLunchbox148Thank's a lot I think I just needed someone who knows more about bettas to tell me that it's normal for them to be pale because I was stressing I really have become attached to him. I'm treating with Rid-ich plus It's working really well! the spots are gone (finally after 5 days) But he is still not as energetic as he usualy is and he's still pale. I have to medicate for 3 more days I just don't know if it's the medicine making him pale or the ich/damage from the parasites.. Thanks a lot for your time!

I thought so, I just wanted to be sure. :) - 02-22-2013 12:06 AM - permalinkSaphira101Hi Callistra :)
I was wondering if one ml. of stress coat+ and 2 drops of prime per gallon of water is too much conditioner? I'd normally just do the prime, but I want to use stress coat for the Betta I was talking about.. The one with his caudal bitten off. (I bought him yesterday afternoon) I'm still waiting to put him in his tank until I finish testing the heater.
Thanks, ~Saphira - 02-20-2013 06:07 PM - permalinkLunchbox148Hey sorry to bother you but you seem like you know your stuff.. My betta has ick, his water conditions are good, the heater is on 81, he is acting his normal playfull self but he is loosing color.... Is this normal with bettas with ick??! Thanks so much!
- 02-18-2013 10:16 PM - permalinkAyalaCookiejarYes, I test often. I change Bahari's water when ammonia shows up. I've never seen nitrites but there is sometimes a very small amount of nitrates but I have tested my tap water and found nitrates in it at times.
DaBaDees tank is always 0 ammonia and nitrites and some nitrates, usually 5-10. I haven't ever detected ammonia or nitrites in his tank for like two months. I'm not sure Bahari's tank is cycling at all but I don't know why. I've never changed the filter media or turned off the filter, and the pH in both tanks is 8 and the temp is 79 in Bahari's tank and 80 in DaBaDees. The tank has been set up and the filter running since the end of November. I always condition the water before putting in the tank. Both have the same filter in them. - 02-18-2013 06:00 PM - permalinkAyalaCookiejarHello. I want to say thank you for your help previously and for recommending that I get VitaChem and also apologize for the additional questions I am about to ask, lol.
I am feeding my VT for internal parasites with metro soaked Omega One pellets and am feeding Bahari metro and Kanaplex soaked Omega One pellets for his severe and random bloating/buoyancy issues. I was wondering how long I should do this? I don't want to keep them on it for too long.
Also, my VT is the one you had concerns about fin melt. I think his fins look worse. They are raggedy like tail biting or something. I have been adding VitaChem to all of my tanks, including my brothers since he doesn't care for his fish and I have to, lol. I think I've had it for a week now or something so that's how long they've been on it. - 02-16-2013 11:19 PM - permalinkHadoken KittyI work for the before and after school care program for schools through the YMCA. The Y has this Y-Club that is at various schools, letting them have a before/after care program where they otherwise wouldn't. I'm a child-care assistant, but right now I'm just subbing. I had to sub due to my college schedule, but when I first started working I worked at three different schools and I would be lent to other schools rather often. The program works with K-5th (sometimes 6th depending on the age) graders. During the summer I work as a camp counselor. It's pretty much a ton of fun. (:
