Oh that makes more sense. Sounds very similar to my situation.

I have 3 fish currently but I've had many more in the past, and I have years of experience treating/helping more than what I've personally owned. I've also kept fish other than bettas for over 20 years. I'm not one of those people who collects bettas like coins, and I spend a lot of extra time pampering the few I own, and learning everything I possibly can to enrich their lives to the fullest. In addition to my personal experience, I read constantly, and pay attention to other people's experiences and knowledge.. it's variety of things collected over a number of years.

Just a question, please don't take any offense from it, but how do you know so much about illnesses if you only have three fish?
