Hey Callistra, thanks for getting back to me. I think you have a valid point on the dropsy thing and it reoccuring after only one course of treatment. I'll be advocating much more aggressive treatment from now on. It's a shame that Kanaplex is so hard to find for most of us.
Heya. Can't remember where I first read about dropsy but I know I've read several places where two week treatment has been recommended, and I've personally helped at various forums where it took two+ rounds of meds to clear up completely as well. Can't really tell you where I first got the info but really common when the infection has gotten to that point for things to take a two weeks to clear, though if you got the right med things should definitely be coming along after a week. Even when things seem clear in only a week or one round of treatment I find it best to treat an additional week past when things look 100% or re-occurrence seems to happen a lot more often.
Hi Callistra, I wasn't sure if you read my post in Danifacetastic's thread. I really am curious. Who says the recommended treatment for dropsy is 14 days? I would very much like to know, in case this is something I need to be recommending to people. Please get back to me. Thanks.
Interesting. So far, what I'm reading is that minocycline and tetracycline are roughly the same strength but minocycline acts faster and lasts longer. Although, these studies are for human usage of the meds, not fish.
