Yeah :[ All the bettas (Shadow and Bubba) I got from my petco were sick with a severe case of fin rot....Shadow's tail was so horrible I thought he was a female....He made it a month but then he died sadly..:[ Agh! I've only seen one store that took GREAT care of their bettas in California!!! They kept their bettas in HUGE tanks compared to those little cups :] If only ever pet store was like that...

Yeah :[ I always get so diappointed when I see some kid walk off with a beautiful betta and only a bowl :[ When I was picking out Alexander I was buying his tank too (No worries I kno I need to cycle it lol) which is a 5 gal hex and the fish person asked so why are you putting your betta in such a big tank why not just get a bowl....Then I just said "I have had bettas for 4 years now...I think I know that bowls are cruel to any fish..." Then they just walked away...Can't fix stupid I guess :[

Yeah, you don't know how many little kids I see go into the betta isle and just randomly pick one off the shelf, then go to an employee and ask, "So, what do I need to keep this fish?" And the employee points out all the stuff that is not need, too small, etc.

I am honestly thinking about a betta rescue... unfortunately, I don't have the time, the room, and there aren't a lot of betta enthusiasts in my area.

:[ I hate how in order to save a betta we have to pay them so they can get more bettas...It also bothers me so much how when people ask how big of tanks they need for bettas and if they need heaters...they say "Oh no of course not! In the wild they live in puddles! They will be just fine in a small bowl." (Sigh) I hope someday someone makes a betta rescue..that would be great..

Agh! That's terrible! When I went to Petsmar yesterday to get Marmaduke they had gotten in a new shipment of bettas, and one employee asked (well, really, sneered,) "How many bettas did we get?" And another employee said, "Not many." And the other one said "GOOD."
And the bettas in my pet store are pretty much all sick. The last think they need are more bettas!!
