I needed to put salt in the tank because my betta's fins were a bit tattered.

Hey Oldfishlady! I was wondering what type or brand of pool filter sand do you use as your substrate? Do you know of any gravel/rocks that I could use if I wanted to avoid sand? I just wanted to ask because I wanted to see of anything you can use other than aquarium designated gravel that would be cheaper to buy. Thanks!

Hey Oldfishlady! There are tons of air bubbles covering the bottom of my tank. It's all over the gravel and dwarf hairgrass. I've also noticed a sudden algae bloom. The tank is planted lightly, and I change 50% of the water each week. The light is on for 10 hrs each day and is 6500 K and 13 watts. What is going wrong with this tank? Thank you!

Hey OFL! I'm not sure if i'm asking the right person but I'll ask anyway. So,i wanted to start putting aq salt in aqua's (betta) 10 gal tank. But in there are 6 penguin tetras and according to some members, they say that salt makes water hard and tetras are from soft water environments. But when I look on different sources on the internet, it says that it is ok to put salt in the tetras tank. I am very confused. Do you think I am able to put salt in or no? Also, if I can , what is the best way to adjust the fish to a rather "salty" tank?

Yup. Right now the water is very dirty it has been setup for about 24 hours, should I wait for it to clear up, or do a bunch of water changes

Thank you! I will try using top soil/dirt from my yard right now. I have an extra tank to test it out on with some plants

Oh. Okay, thank you. What soils would you recommend, at the moment I'm using oak leaves, when they start to decay and become soft my plants root to them
