Hello, I was recommended by a fellow user to contact you regarding my question. My betta fish tried to eat a half inch long piece of java fern root when the piece floated around. He couldn't swallow it and so he tried to spit it back out by opening his mouth wide repeatedly and flaring to flush out his gills. The root somehow ended out lodged into his left gill. When he flares, it sticks right out along with his gill. What can I do,OFL?

Hi I was told by another member to contact you for advice on my betta. I've had Bam for 3 years, he's in a 2 gallon tank, filtered with weekly water changes. He eats betta pellets. 3 or 4 a day. I noticed he recently got lumps on both sides, one bigger than the other. I thought it might be constipation so I fasted him for 3 days and then fed him the inside of a mashed up pea, which I read several places works for constipation, but now looking on here, people are saying peas are bad to feed them? Anyway, there was no change in the lumps so I tried 1 teaspoon of epsom salt in a gallon tank for 20 mins and then out him back in his tank with a water change. He still has these lumps. He is acting normally - no behavior changes. Any advice would be appreciated. The lumps are farther back on his body - not up front by his gills or anything.

He's in a 1 gallon bowl because he's hapier and swims, and is healthier than in a 10 gallon tried to do this twice so now he's in his one gallon bowl swimming merily. Getting two 1 gallons soon and getting two new fishes later on in october.

Oh, really.... OK, then I'm getting the kit today as you know. I also have another question. (I'm a pain aren't I? -_-) Can a Betta be born with a defective gill or labyrinth? Remember the yawns I told you about? And Lebron gasps as well. But he's still active and all those good signs... Once I test, I'll see where I am in the cycle and if there's an ammonia problem. I hope not... I really don't want Lebron to suffer because of all the conditions I don't know about. :( ~LTB

Hi OFL. Again. Lol. My parents are already letting me buy the test kit. :D Anyway, does a bacterial bloom HAVE to happen once the bb start to grow? I never got one... And I've noticed that most members have a bloom, too. What do you think? ~LTB
