To be honest I don't know that much about the moss ball other than what I have read-never had one myself-they are type of algae and will use excessive byproducts created by organics in the system-and tolerate low light conditions-health problems I have no idea but I wouldn't think they would cause any problems with livestock unless they start to die fouling the water....Be sure and post this question on the main forum if you haven't already-lot of members keep them and could help answer your questions from personal experience.....

Hello OFL! Um, I had this question nobody seemed to be able to answer. You know those moss ball things they sell at petco? I wanted to add 1 to my tank but had a few questions.
1. do they work well with all fish and take in waste?
2. Do they need special lighting/ substrate/ temps?
3. can they get 'sick' ?
