Okay. I usually run around 5 ppm. But Friday I tested at 10 ppm. I am assuming because I have had the one oto die in the tank (the new one I knew wasn't going to live once I got home lol), and the other almost die. I did a water change anyway just to be on the safe side.
I usually siphon the gravel pretty well. I actually had to siphon it earlier than normal this week due to Flair and the algae wafer. So I usually do get it pretty mixed up. I'm wondering if it was an older oto? If it showed no signs of infection or problems. It had full color, acted completely normal until that point, and just had a swollen belly. I was thinking it would have showed signs if bacterial wouldn't it? Does Marycyn help them? I have been using that too in the past 2 weeks at one point...so if it helps them that would help any infection right? It was the largest of my two otos...
I am really hoping it was just old age. I'd hate to think it had an infection and I never knew because it showed no signs.
I had an oto die today - it was acting completely normal when I went to bed at 1 AM last night. When I got home at 2 PM today it was lying on it's side and had a swollen belly. I got it out and put it in a separate container and within 30 minutes it died. Do you have any idea what could have happened? I can find nothing on diseases of otos on the internet.
