Byron I am so sorry about the forum. I just got a little patriotic for my tank, I understand that you are just trying to help and you are very experienced. Thankyou and I am sorry.

So you pretty much saying it would be worth my time to make the drive for the quikrete play sand

Without knowing just what the fish store has, yes.

Byron, you've been very helpful to me here. I went to Home Depot today to get the quikrete play sand but they don't carry it. I looked around and Lowe's which, is a 45 min drive one way for me, dose. The local fish store here has aquarium sand, will that be just as good? I know it's a quit a bit more money, but I'll save that much on the gas I would use getting the play sand.

Depends what the "sand" is. It might be crushed coral or similar for marine tanks, you would not want that as it will mess with the water chemistry. Byron.

    Hey Byron,
I loaded the picture of my 120gallon. Check it out. Looks like one of yours but your plants are growing and mine might be dying already. Hopefully not. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Byron. You seem knowledgeable about nitrites. My 55 gal. started new on 3/2/2012 . nitrites are off the chart. Bought a purigen sandy mixture in a mesh like bag and added behind filter yesterday. still high. some guppies already died. some turnrd upside down on bottom yesterday but scooped them into hospital ( 5 gal.) tank and they are good today. Hospital tank readings 0 ppm on nitrites and nitrates. how can i remove this deadly mineral before i loose my angel fish , dwarf gouramis , lyre tail mollies , catfish , red tailed shark , neons and black tetras ?

I will reply via PM as it will be easier (more space). Byron.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
