Byron, can you offer any insight into my thread? 75 Gallon Tank under freshwater aquariums.. I don't know if everyone's just been skipping over it or what, but I have a feeling that I need some help with my current stocking plans. Thanks!

Hey, I was wondering, do you think that Playsand or Ecocomplete is better for a lowtech setup? I wanna switch from gravel in my 5 gallon.
From my experience with Flourite (identical to Eco-Complete basically) and sand, go with playsand. I am, after 15 months, changing back from F to sand due to lack of benefit plus plant issues not present in the sand substrate tanks. Byron.

Someone put in a first post saying hello on the main freshwater aquarium page titled Hello from Oklahoma.
Another moderator has already moved it to Meet the Community. Thanks, Byron.

Byron, just curious, since you've kept them.. What would you say is the most difficult aspect of keeping the licorice and noble gourami? Have you kept the noble gourami? I know you have some licorice right now.
Also, curious about the difficulty level of maintaining a proper pH for fish like these, my pH is 7.6 so I'd need to drop down quite a bit. What's the most stable way to do this?
    Thank you!
    I'll reply via PM. Byron.

Hey need some help, my tank sprang a leak and I lost all my water, well most of it, I had to buy a tank but now my fish are getting ammonia burns because the tank started to cycle, what can I do to quicken the cycle?

Just added Prime and live bacteria? Should I dump what little bit of water I have from the old tank in?
Plants will help? I need floating since the cats will knock anything else loose in the bottom....what do you recommend

I just sent you a PM on this. Byron.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
