Hi Byron. I notice that you are located in Vancouver so I wanted to say hi. I am in Surrey. I am new to the world of fishkeeping, my daughter having received a betta as an unexpected Christmas gift, but I am really enjoying it so far. I noticed your comments on a thread about MTS (trumpet snails) and wondered if you might know a local place to acquire them - being in Canada makes the online shopping a bit tricky!
Stores here very rarely have them, but I have hundreds and can give you some, will PM you. B.

Hey Byron, I was wondering if you had any suggestions for driftwood for my 20g freshwater tank because I hear you're the expert. Could you please check out my thread? Thanks!

Hey Byron, I just updated my thread (8g and 5g cycling and stocking) after switching to potassium chloride and posted my parameters, just wondering if I am understanding the readings properly and even though my GH is coming out 0 with the softener I still actually have hard water with a GH of 300 or 17dGH and I should be buying hard water fish? Thanks again for all your help!

Byron, as per my thread, I got my GH tested. It was "5" which he said equates to 90 ppm. Could this have anything to do with the brown on my Amazon Sword plants?

To make it easier, I will respond by PM. B.

Byron, can you offer any insight into my thread? 75 Gallon Tank under freshwater aquariums.. I don't know if everyone's just been skipping over it or what, but I have a feeling that I need some help with my current stocking plans. Thanks!

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
