Newbie here

Hello all,
I've been reading this forum for about a week and it seems like a friendly and helpful place, so I joined.

I just bought a 20 gallon freshwater for my daughter who is 2 1/2 and loves fish. Unfortunately I rushed into it without doing my research first, but my tank and 5 platys are doing alright. The tank is cycling, my water is within tolerances and my fish seem healthy. I lost one Platy, but he didn't seem healthy from the first day. I used BIO-Spira after I found out that I rushed things and my tank is 3 weeks ahead of schedule... according to water testing and what I've read. I know I'm not out of the woods yet, but it's a better start than what I thought would happen.

Welcome to the forum Coley. I've been in this hobby, off and on (mostly on), for over 45 years and still get a thrill out of seeing new faces getting their feet wet. (bad joke, but I couldn't resist.)
Platys are a relatively tough fish and should survive your rambunctiousness. A 20g tank is a good starter tank and I hope your daughter enjoys it to the point that she is pulled into the hobby when she gets older.
Don't worry about your "mistake", we have all made many. I can't count how many I've made over the years. If I wrote a book about them, it would be voluminous.
