Hey everyone, the hubbs and I are new to the page and new to the world of salt water tanks. We only have a nano cube right now it was a Xmas gift from the hubbs to me. It's a starter tank for us to get the feel of what to do for them. It's been a rocky start and in the search of answers I found this page.

Thanks guys. Seems our tank buddies have fallen ill. Everything has died. We've been trying to figure out some stuff we had take over our tank and that's how I found this site but it seems it was too late our last fish died last night... Time to start over I guess

That is sad to hear. Initial failures can be devasting, and many quickly leave the hobby when this occurs. Without knowing the issues one can't offer much in the way of helpful suggestions, but I will only guess that cycling may have played a part. If you want any assistance this time, post in the Freshwater Aquarium section where more members regularly browse and we should be able to help. That's why we're all here.

Hello and welcome to TFK and to the other side of the hobby. I am in the process right now of setting up my first saltwater tank. There is definitely a bit more going on with a sw when compared to a fw. With planning research and asking questions here there is no way you will not be successful. What size cube do you have? I am guessing that it is a biocube. A few important aspects of saltwater is filtration supplied mostly by your live rock, good water source most people either buy rodi water at a local store or invest in arodi unit to make their water at home good flow in the tank provided by your powerheads and a good quality protein skimmer. Depending on if you are setting this up with only fish or if you are going to do corals will determine your lighting needs. Also patience and time is another big component of keeping a successful saltwater tank. There are some very knowledge and helpful members in the saltie section here who can answer your questions and help guide you.

Well it's a nano cube. Everything was fine till the purple stuff showed up and took over. Were trying to figure out how to start over now and not have the same issue. It's a small tank so just fish and some snails and maybe a few shrimp. Once all is balanced I would love to get a urchin but that's aways Down the road. Just so everyone knows I don't have a computer I do all my stuff on my phone so please excuse sp errors and mistypes. Ha ha. All the help we can get for our tank is welcomed.
