Hi Everyone!

Nice to be on this forum, it appears to be a very informative one. I`m a mom of 4 boys and although we have had many tanks over the years we usually have stuck with tetras, neons, flying fox, and bettas. One of my children has special needs (intellectual delays) but has been running his own tank (20G) as well as maintaining his brothers tanks (10G x3).

We were just given a 55G tank for my son, as the fish have such a calming effect on him, especially at night. This site was mentioned by a friend of mine, and I know my son will join as well.

55g is a great size tank. If it's the usual 48" tank you will be able to house some really nice fish for your son. 4 foot tanks are suitable for a variety of great schooling fish or a smaller number of slightly larger fish. I look forward to seeing the tank as it progresses, as well as your current tanks!

Enjoy your new tank! Setting up and stocking is half the fun.

Well it turns out sadly that the tank we were given was a 32 gallon, the girl lied and my son was very upset to find out that he would not be able to do the things he wanted to. Need some advice on this! Where would I post my dilemma???

We're glad you and family are joining us.
Are you thinking of looking around again to find something bigger? And maybe resell the 32?

Depends on whether is was a family member and it was a nice gift or more like I get.... I know this guy who has a tank.... ya want it? Ummmm? mmmMaybe!

The dimensions:
35.5 inches side to side
18 inches top to bottom
11.5 inches from to back
Definately not a faminly member, more like `Hi were moving at 8pm, if you want it come and get it`...it of course came with 13 neons, a barb, and a GIANT 18 inch pleco, which we brough to our local fish store because I didn`t know what else to do with a fish that size!!! That`s where we found out the tank was a 32. Thinking we might just stick with that, my son spent the whole day cleaning all the rock, the tank, and moving his 20 G to his little brothers room...but he doesn`t have too many options with a 32 :(
