Hello. I started keeping fish when I was 16 as a hobby. Cichlids were probably my favorites and by the time I left to go to college I had a 55 gallon mbuna tank and a 45 bowfront community tank, a 30 gallon african cichlid tank and a 10 gallon communal tank. Of course, going away to college meant that my fish were sold or given away and I haven't dabbled in aquaria since.

7 years later I bought a young Koi for my boyfirends daughter and that began my passions again. Currently we have a 55 gallon tank that is about 5 weeks old now and I'll soon add a 20 gallon long tank for livebearers and plants.

I joined to refresh my knowledge after I realized there were many new things on the market these days, and to talk about my tanks.

Outside of aquariums, I've bred geckos for some years (not currently) and enjoy making soap, painting, and playing with my baby dachshund named Vincent.

Were were all these women into aquariums when I was a teen and young adult going to college, way back when. In the 60's, 70's and 80's, there were definitely a much lower ratio of women to men in the hobby. Nice to see it has changed.
