I have had a freshwater tank for a few years now and boy has it had its ups and downs! I recently learned about fish forums and i would love some help from the experts here... I have a lot to learn... I have a 6 inch (maybe bigger) kissing gourami in a 30gal tank he is my big boy i love him dearly but I need to find him a loving home. I have called all over to the smaller fish stores and they all want to resell. I cant have him re sold to some one that will put him in a small tank ive had him for several years and I want to do the right thing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.... Conflicted

Is the kissing gourami in the 30 gallon on it's own? Do you live near a larger city that would have a larger LFS?

I always hope that a fish I have had in my tank for a long period will find a good home as well if I chose to sell it. Some of the fish I own are 12+ years old. If the LFS is knowledgeable enough they should get some info on the buyer's tank and steer them in the right direction on fish. I know this doesn't always happen though, so I understand why you are conflicted.

I am relatively new to the forum here, I know that others will weigh in.

thank you for the reassurance.... he has 2 little friends in his tank as well a crown beta and a pearl gourami,
he likes them the pearl gourami has an ill temper..... I really wish I could just find him a home... I dont even remember him being this big lol i looked over 1 day and was surprised at his size.... poor biggie.... I may just buy a 55 gal at this point because I dont know if I can part with him.... still conflicted

I have in the past euthanized fish I had raised but could find no good homes for.
It sucked, but I have since refrained from keeping some fishes,, unless I am certain they can live out healthy long lives with me,,or I have a source that will accept them and provide similar care as me.
Sometimes stuff beyond our control happens and tanks must be tore down,or fishes re-homed, but I would rather euthanize the fish than subject them to what I felt would be poor care.
I do not feel that this was a bad thing, but opinion's vary and as mentioned,,I am more careful nowday's to seek fishes that can die of old age, rather than neglect.
Was an old woman who ran small mom and pop fish store who would provide homes for such fishes, but sadly, the big box stores run her out of buisness.
She was one of a few who had the time/space and want to, to help out when needed.

You could just go out and purchase a larger tank

Sorry didn't see your post about getting a 55. If you cant part with your fish you should just buy a bigger tank
