Hello TFK. Im a novice fishkeeper from South Africa. Ive been lurking around TFK for about 3 weeks and found the articles and posts on here most resourceful. At the moment i dont have an aqaurium, but im am doing research for a new setup. I have had previous experiences with fishkeeping so not all is new. I believe this website will be of great assistance for my new found passion for fishkeeping. and that it will be a blast here in TFK. :D

Hi and thanks for the hospitality. lol. Wont lurk around anymore. I believe ill have just as much fun following existing member's setups as youll have following mine.

I am a fan of planted FW setups, but did not have much success with them so far. Thats why im doing some research now. As i want i planted aqaurium, i havent really considered what fish i want to keep, maybe ill opt for a densely planted thank with a school of neons, or a community.

I want to get a 4 Foot setup ( 48"x23.6"x17.71", LxHxW), approximately 65 Gallons. Not exactly sure about what lighting i want to use because ive read about the WPG rule that should be only used as a guideline, and i wont have the budget for too expensive CO2 systems used in hi tech planted aqauriums today. And for filter choice im considering to use a sump, but unsure about the return pump and sump design. But at least i have lots of time to research and figure things out.

I am currently shopping around for a tank. almost look like ill be getting a better deal buying a new tank than a second hand one, but ill be patient, since im only planning to set up in january next year.
