Hi! I'm Christian, Criss, or Criss Fish (Fisher is my last name) *cue over used Fisher irony joke*

Anyways, Im 18 and new to the aquarium scene. I got my first tank a couple of weeks ago and just last night put the first fish in to start cycling it. The tank is a 60 Gal tall show tank i got from craigslist for what i thought was a great deal. it came with a matching stand and i'm very happy with it so far.

it has 4 "MED" sized tiger barbs in there now, but there will soon be more.

I actually found this forum when i was searching google for what type of fish to get for cycling.

Im excited to get started here and to learn new things so i can further my tank!

it's going to be a kind of shared tank with me and my girl, and i told her she can look at fish online she likes and i will research and see if we can put them in.

Hello and welcome to TFK

Once you figure out the ph and hardness of your tap water, you'll be able to find fish that will work well in your setup.

Compatability with the other fish will be another important thing to consider and since you started with tiger barbs, you'll want to build around them since they are semi-agressive.

Hi Criss Fish. Welcome from Ontario!
There areTropicaln Fish Profiles in the top dark blue bar. Click on it, Type in "Barb" and you will get a listing that includes the Tiger Barb.
It should tell you min numbers, feeding, PH and water req, plus possible tank mates ETC. Looks like you have done well by going with a 60 gallon and you have not made the mistake many of us have by putting too many fish into too small a tank. Go slow as you need to build up the good bacteria and get thru the Nitrogen Cycle. This can take up to 6-8 weeks. Remember to use a good water conditioner like Prime with each water change. There are many expenses ahead of you... lol... you have crossed over to the dark side you know.... it's an addiction... the owner that sold you the tank didn't bother to mention that did he? Hehehe.

i lived in castle rock last winter! it was a great town, except for the fact that it shuts down completely at 9pm. It was a very pretty place however.
