Will these fish tolerate aquarium salt in their water?

I have a guppy with a sore tail who I am treating with melafix and weekly 20% water changes (this is done every week regardless) but I was wondering about adding some salt to the tank to help his tail. His other tank mates are: European Neon Tetras, Glolight Tetras, Harlequin Rasboras and 3 other guppies. Will they tolerate salt for a while?

Some salt in there short term should be fine with those fish, but not necesarry, depending on what you mean by sore tail. If it's tail is tattered, clean water is the best medicine. I would do atleast 50% pwc every week. You can continue with melafix but I don't think salt will speed the healing.

I'm not sure whats caused it, they have regular water changes (once a week) and I'm sure it's not fin rot as there is no white edge to it and it doesn't appear tattered, I haven't seen other fish fin nipping, so really not sure whats causing it, has been on going for over 4 months now with his tail gradually shrinking, any ideas??? He doesn't appear unwell, no clamped fins etc and races round the tank happily and gobbles up his food quickly.
