I am missing a guppy. I looked under all the ornaments, even ran my hands through the substrate. I looked in the filter and behind the tank thinking maybe she jumped out. No luck. I do have 6 mystery snails. Would they eat dead fish? That's the only thing I can think of, that she died and the snails did their job. Anyone have any ideas?
I can't say for sure mystery snails will but most snails will eat anything that doesn't swim away. I don't think they would have killed the guppy but if it was dead it was fair game and didn't last long.
Yup, they sure will, and fast too. Occasionally I find left-overs, but not often...if one dies overnight I'll be lucky to find it. Their bones are so small they often get eaten, or are too hard to see. Mystery snails would make short work of one if they were hungry and found a dead fish. They wouldn't kill them though, not unless they're so sick they couldn't move away from them.

Yes, mystery snails are opportunistic feeders and will eat just about anything, even each other if hungry enough.
Here is an incredible video that will tell you everything you need to know about mystery snails. Enjoy.
