I have found that my males don't colour up until they are at least an inch long, sometimes the girls don't really show any tail colour or markings till a bit later.

with me my males started to show color at around 1-2 months and my females really late maybe around 6-7 months, they all get color at their own pace tho

They get Bloodworms, and tropical flake food. Should there be something else?

thats good 4 them, you could also give them peas every now and again........put them in hot water for about 5 mins then take the shell off and crush them up in the water, your fish will love it, mine do! :):):)
