Vacation feeder for guppies? (and lighting)

Hi guys. I am loving the wealth of information on this site - wish I had found it sooner!

We are planning go to away for a week's vacation.

What is the best way to make sure the fish are fed appropriately during that time?

Are there mechanisms to autofeed them or do I need to get a friend to stop by and feed them?

Also, is it ok to just leave the window-shade open to give them the day/night cycle or do I need to get some sort of timer for the hood light?

Thanks!

I would do as you said for the lighting, unless you have live plants that need more than that, in which case a timer would be good.

The fish will be fine without being fed while you're away - FAR less can go wrong that way.
