Talking Today I got my fish

I have been cycling my tank for 17 weeks now, thought it would never get to this stage. Anyway I finally got my fish.
I opted to get Platy's since I am very new to this hobby and from what I have read Platy's are easy to care for. I have a 10 gallon tank and I bought 6 Platy fish. They are loving their new home and I am loving them.

Congrats. on you new fish and your tank being cycled. It takes so long sometimes but it's worth the wait for the health of your fish (and your sanity).

What type of platys? How many males and females?

I took a few Platys from each tank, didn't focus on just one kind, I wish I had gotten a mickey mouse and a red wag, but space was limited so I couldn't get each kind I wanted. I am happy with the ones I did select. 4 are Platys and 2 are Swordtails. I asked for all female, hope they are. I don't have room for more fish as this is the only tank I have and it's only 10 gallons. I understand that the females are likely pregnant and can continue to produce fry for up to 6 months. But sooner or later I should have it under control.

They'll only come under control if you kill or give away all the males.

Platies and Swordtails are two different species, and they will cross-breed.

Sounds great Lukka! Congrats on getting the tank going. Your next step will be breeding. Then fry. Then more fish than you know what to do with. then more tanks and trading with your local pet shop...lol. Have fun!!!
