Strange Molly Behavior

Hello, I have just a quick problem but will run down my Tank Specs first.

Its a 28 Gallon glass bowfront with a hang on power filter, the temperature is constant at 78 and is aerated constantly with 25% water changes weekly

the Inhabitants are
7 neon Tetras
2 Chinese algae eaters
3 Speckled Mollies
1 Dwarf Gourami

Now to my question which is a compatibility one. My local fish dealer said the the Speckled Mollies were calm enough to be with the Peaceful Gouramis. You see I had 2 Dwarf Gouramis, a pair but my mollies actually ganged up on the male, pestering him and nipping him until he was so stressed that he died. They have never shown any aggression towards any of my other fish or even the female gourami. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome.

I would just rehome the mollies. My recommendation will also include your two CAEs which will not fit your tank before long being almost 8 inches in size and very aggressive as they mature.

thats what I was planning on doing, also what would you reccomend for a algae buster, because I bought the CAE just thinking about algae consumption and then figured out about how big and agressive they got.

thanks for your help

Otos can eat diatoms. True SAEs eat black brush algae. Amano and bumblebee shrimps eat filamentous algae.
