I am treating my molly/ The subject species is referred to as the Common or Southern Platy in order to distinguish it from Xiphophorus ...
I am treating my molly/Platy tank for ich. I took out all of the live plants, and behold, now have fry swimming around. ( I know at least one molly is pregger). Should I put the plants back, and risk losing them to the ich med, (kordon rid-ich plus), or let the fry become snacks?
Personally, I'd save the plants since you'll have more fry. Another option is to put the fry into a bowl temporarily, making sure you change the water frequently!
Hoping there won't be a next time! I do have some plastics, but the Anacharis is real, and seems to provide the best hiding place. I just threw it in a plastic pitcher until the meds were taken out. Thx 4 the input.
I have yet to pull my live plants during treatment. Plants recuperate just as fish. At least mine have. I don't have sensitive plants for one. I have only had to treat twice within 8 years of being in the hobby and neither time did I loose a plant. Check the care specs for your plants to see if they are effected by meds.
