Very nice set up! What is the fish that is on the first page that has kind of a pink belly?

That is a firemouth meeki. It is a south american cichlid. They were very common here in florida and even grew in the wild. Until last winter...everything was killed by the cold. I imported breeders and may have one of the only ponds of meekis right now. I am sure other farmers did the same as they were very popular and good sellers.

I thought it was a Cichlid but as I have never kept them I was not sure.

Tank SPECS RETESTED

I think I understand the test directions better now. Here are the results. This means Hard water???

PH 8.5
GH 14 (38 turned it red + 14 to go green)
KH 10
NO2 0.09
NH3/NH4 (ammonia) 0

TEMP: 75 (with heat and lights on)

HARD ALKALINE WATER RIGHT?????

So NOW which fish is recommended? I think my want list was all wrong except maybe the platy?????

And they have arrived. So far so good. Only one showed stress signs. Checked levels.
Little high this morning for ammonia so did a water change per level rise. He is swimming more again.
Never added so many fish at one time before.

Need new tank already.....found 10 fry. Suspended them in net inside tank until get new pump. My quit and I temp am using my nebulizer!!! Too strong and can't be turned down besides not wanting to burn it up. I made make shift tube connections for an air bar stone. Giving shots of air infusion for twenty minutes at a time (just under surface).

yes!!! Before I even got box open.

I have one question though.... the Pleco appears to have a zigzag tail... new variety or deformity? Never seen that before in a Pleco. If when I can do a bigger tank I will have to move him/her and get some more so he/she isn't all alone.

Next time I get to the bigger towns (hour away) and can get to Walmart or Fish store I will have to get a new pump.

For now my nebulizer is acting like an overpowered air pump. Made makeshift down sizing coupler to get larger tubing downsized to fit to a long air stone I had. Near surface, resting on heater brackets. Can't leave on 24/7 as it is only meant for breathing treatments. So tank is getting "extra long breathing treatment" air infusions with rests for nebulizer in between.
