Prego black molly???!!

I have been so pre-occupied with my dwarf platy that I didn't even notice that my molly is quite large also. I've only had her about 3 weeks and she seems to be a bit larger. It's hard for me to tell if she's just fat, or if she may be pregnant. I have noticed a little whitish protrusion if you want to call it that, coming from her "female spot." What do you think??
Thanks a ton!!

Her "area" is getting more and more pushed out every day. how long from the time the "area" gets pushed out do they give birth? I'm so excited for fry!! I have a 1 gallon aquarium set up for the fry, and it's at about 81 degrees. Is that to warm?

81 is perfect!

I think you should move the male and let her give birth in her own tank...

Oh, I never thought of that! He has really been harassing her and wont "get off of her" if you know what I mean. When do you think I should put him in the other tank? How will I know when she's ready to give birth?
Thanks!!

Depends. Since your aquarium has a bunch of mollies it might be better just to move her rather than all the other fish. It depends how long you think your fish will be fine in the other aquarium you plan to move them in. Not sure when I'd predict her birth time to be, so whenever you think she is close, you can move her. Make it lowest stress as possible if you decide to move her. Record the day she gives birth, and if you do this each time, you'll find a pattern and know her average gestation period so you can move her a few days before she gives birth.

Move the others to another tank for about a month or two. This should give the fry time to grow big enough not to get eaten.

She is ready! Get her a free tank just for herself and babies should pop out in 24hrs or so.
