Pregnant platys?

How can you tell if platys are pregnant? Just wondering if there are any signs other than rounding/protruding tummies, like the stomach turning darker or anything like that.

Also curious how to tell the sex of platys, if there is any way.

Sexing them is very easy. The females have a fan shaped fin on their bellies and the males have more of a spikey fin called a gonopodium.

When females are far along there's no mistaking the belly. They also develop a dark spot by their anal fin. This can be hard to see depending on the color of your fish.

Wow that is simple, eh? I already know right now that my red is a male and my marble is a female. Thanks! haha

Although the one I thought may be pregnant is actually a male...so...that answers that question too haha
